My name is Denise Broomer and I am a LPN for 27 years, currently working as a Clinical Applications Coordinator at the VA Hospital in Wilmington, DE for 23 years. She is a married mother of two with 9 grand children with a creative mind and love of music. Currently I am attending Walden University to obtain a Degree in Public Health. I am currently a member of Black Nurses Rock, National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses and Lambda Psi Nu Sorority. My most treasured award is Nurse of the Year for the Department of Veterans Affairs-VISN4 after creating a position description for LPNs to be able to obtain a higher pay grade of GS-7. My passion is teaching and educating which I currently do as an Instructor for CNAs since June 2011. I love and enjoy my fellow LPNs and do all I can do to uplift them in anyway. My favorite saying is “You don’t make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.” By Shirley Chisholm.
