Lambda Psi Nu | Nursing Sorority

Lambda Psi Nu

Our Story

Lambda Psi Nu was founded on February 9, 2019, in Bowie, Maryland by Beverly M. Morgan, LPN, alongside four dynamic Licensed Practical Nurses known as the “Fabulous Five.”

Their shared vision was to create a professional organization owned and operated by LPNs — one that would uplift, advocate, and unite nurses across cultures, communities, and borders.

The first line of Lambda Psi Nu crossed on October 3, 2019 at the National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses’ 70th Annual Conference, forming a lifelong bond of sisterhood that continues to grow nationally and internationally.

My career has been in LTC, skilled, geriatric and pediatric nursing, wound & ostomy, Assisted Living and currently Private Duty nurse for trach & vent patients receiving a certificate.  I trained and received my certification for phlebotomy.

My current husband and I recently celebrated 19 years of marriage, we have five daughters, 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. My passion for travel has taken me to all 50 U.S. states and 7 counties. I also enjoy bowling for relaxation.

I read about and later joined Lambda Psi Nu organization in 2019, 1st Line of Inception, feeling the desire to be amongst like-minded nurses. A sisterhood where we could talk, laugh, cry and release our frustrations without being judged, with nurse/sisters who celebrate each other.

My achievements in Lambda Psi Nu organization are Welcome Committee Chairwoman, past President of Pi Chapter IL/IN and now National Executive Treasurer of Lambda Psi Nu organization.

Because we care about the communities we serve as nurses, I volunteer in various capacities from food panties, clothing donations and recently an organization called Fight2Feed, where I assisted in preparing 2,500 meals for the local police dept., churches and different communities that feed the unhoused, receiving awards and letters of gratitude from U.S. State Senator Elgie Sims(IL), local food pantries, Salvation Army to name a few. I encourage others to pursue their dreams, no matter how long it takes.

Yanessa Ramos Second Vice President

In my current capacity as 2nd Vice President on the national board, I hold primary responsibility for the oversight and guidance of the pledge process. This leadership role has proven to be profoundly gratifying, echoing the significant personal and organizational connection I experienced early in my own journey.

My professional career commenced in 2007 as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), cultivating a broad and in-depth expertise across a spectrum of healthcare environments. My clinical proficiencies span specialized psychiatric care, comprehensive Alzheimer’s disease management, advanced tracheostomy and ventilator support, and dedicated home health services.

The confluence of my nursing profession and my membership in Lambda Psi Nu Inc. has consistently furnished substantial opportunities for impactful community engagement, both within my immediate locale and significantly within my native community in Puerto Rico. This dedication extends internationally, as I am actively involved in a highly rewarding initiative dedicated to supporting vulnerable children within a community in Colombia.

Collectively, these varied and extensive experiences underscore an unwavering commitment to service and generate profound personal fulfillment.
